Katelyn is currently the Secretary of AIChE and manages the attendance for the chemical engineering professional seminar, takes notes during executive board meetings, and acts as a liaison between our chapter and the Mid-America region of AIChE. This is Katelyn’s second time on the AIChE Executive Board and has served as the Vice President and one of the Kids Day Camp Coordinators during the past two semesters. Katelyn attended the Spring 2019 Regional Conference in Rolla, Missouri and will be attending the Fall 2020 virtual conference. Outside of AIChE, Katelyn is the President of the Society of Women Engineers, a Morale Captain for Dance Marathon, a teaching assistant for the Chemical Process Safety course, an Engineering Student Ambassador, and volunteers in the NICU at the hospital. She is also involved in Omega Chi Epsilon, Phi Eta Sigma, and is a research assistant for Dr. Fiegel and Dr. Rundlett in an ethics project. Katelyn’s favorite classes have been Chemical Process Safety and Fluid Flow. Katelyn had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy in the summer of 2018 and intends to do a Quality Engineering Co-Op at Civco Medical Solutions next spring and summer. Katelyn’s elective focus area is pre-medicine, and she hopes to attend medical school after graduation to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Katelyn chose to study chemical engineering because she loves problem solving, was very interested in the class material, and wanted a unique major that would prepare her for applying to medical school.
