There are two mentoring opportunities for undergraduates: a professional mentor program and a peer mentor program. Professional mentors are graduates from the University of Iowa which are paired with students based on the students' elective focus areas and future career plans. The mentors give guidance and advice for life after college in addition to opportunities available to students. In peer mentoring, upperclassmen in chemical engineering are paired with underclassmen. This provides guidance from a current student's perspective and advice on classes. Additionally, there are several social events put on through the peer mentoring program to help students get to know one another better.
